Professional Swedish Massage Therapy Program

The Professional Swedish Massage Therapy Program utilizes a dual classroom and clinical approach to educating future massage therapists by combining an emphasis on scientific knowledge with the application of soft-tissue massage therapy techniques. The program begins in August and runs consecutive weeks through the following June.

Students have the choice to select from ONE of the following class schedules:

Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The program consists of two 21-week semesters with each semester containing 336 hours of onsite course work, for a total of 672 clock hours/33.99 semester credit hours.

A clock hour is defined as 50 minutes of instruction.

1 lecture credit hour = 15 clock hours; 1 practical credit hour = 30 clock hours.

The Professional Swedish Massage Therapy Program includes the following:

A minimum of 200 hours of anatomy and physiology, including special instruction on musculoskeletal anatomy.
A minimum of 250 hours of training in massage therapy technique and practice which includes training in how to give a full-body Swedish Massage and preparing to work in a Spa setting by working on the public in our clinic.
A minimum of 106 hours of law and ethics, business, massage history, benefits and contraindication of massage.
A minimum of 108 hours of training in specific therapeutic modalities and nutrition, including an introduction to oriental massage techniques.
8 hours of Basic Life Support/CPR training - this course is a requirement for graduation.
